How to draft
Pick a draft type, a tier for the pool and a team size. Draft against computer drafters on this device, or press Play online to make a room: share the four-letter code, and everyone drafts on their own phone or computer. The host can add computer drafters to fill the room.
- Snake draft: take turns picking from one pool. The order turns around each round (1, 2, 3, then 3, 2, 1), so nobody gets the first pick every time.
- Pick and ban: everyone bans one to three from the pool first, starting with the last picker, then a snake draft.
- Auction: take turns putting a Pokémon up with an opening bid. Anyone can bid more; each bid restarts a short clock, and the top bid when it runs out wins. You always keep 1 for each empty slot, so you can’t end up short.
- Pass the packs: everyone gets a secret pack, picks one, and passes the rest along (left, then right). Picks are shown when everyone has picked.
- Sealed pools: everyone gets their own secret pool of twice the team size and builds a team from it.
With a clock on, a pick is made for anyone whose time runs out. Without one, the host can pick for drafters who have left.
Getting your team into Showdown
When the draft is done, each team is shown with suggested sets (moves, item, ability, Tera Type and EVs, from Pokémon Showdown’s Random Battle move pools). Press Copy team, then in Showdown open the Teambuilder, make a new team and choose Import from text. Pick Names only to build the sets yourself, or New sets for different ones.
Questions
Can two people draft the same Pokémon? No. Each Pokémon is in the pool once, and forms count as the same Pokémon, like in Showdown’s Species Clause.
Just want a random team? Try the Random Pokémon Team Generator.
Is this made by Nintendo or Pokémon Showdown? No. It’s an unofficial fan-made tool. Pokémon and Pokémon names are trademarks of Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures.
