More info

How to use it

Choose a picture from your phone or computer, or start from a blank white or black square. Type your top and bottom text and the meme updates as you go. The text is sized to fit on its own: a short line comes out big, a long one wraps onto more lines and gets smaller. Move the Text size slider to set the size yourself, and press Auto fit to go back.

Classic puts white text with a black outline on the picture. Caption bar puts your first line in a white bar above the picture in black, the newer meme look. Press + Add text box for more text, then drag it anywhere on the picture (or tap it and use the arrow keys). Each box has its own size and can be deleted. When it looks right, press Download.

Tips

Short lines read best: if the text gets tiny, cut words rather than shrinking it. Keep the important part of the picture in the middle, since top and bottom text cover the edges. On a busy or light picture, the outline keeps white text readable; on a blank white square, use Black text. JPG files are smaller and fine for sharing; PNG keeps every edge crisp.

Questions

Is my picture uploaded? No. The meme is drawn in your browser and saved straight to your device. Only your settings (font, style, size) are remembered on this device; your picture and text are not. Why are there no meme templates? Most famous meme pictures belong to someone, so this page only uses pictures you bring. Use your own photos or ones you have the right to use. Can I use an iPhone HEIC photo? Browsers can’t open HEIC; share it as JPG first, or use the Image Converter. How big is the saved file? The same size as your picture, up to 2048 pixels on the longest side; blank squares are 1080 × 1080.
