How to convert and compress pictures
- Choose pictures, drop them on the page or paste them. You can add several, and add more later.
- Pick the format to convert to: JPG, PNG or WebP.
- For JPG and WebP, move the quality slider. Lower quality makes a smaller file. Around 70–85% usually looks the same on screen.
- Download each picture, or Download all to save them one after another.
Which format should I pick?
JPG is best for photos and opens everywhere. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency, which suits logos and screenshots, but photos get big. WebP is usually the smallest of the three at the same look, and works in every current browser.
Questions
Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone? Most browsers can’t open HEIC, so this page can’t either. On the iPhone, set Settings → Camera → Formats to “Most Compatible”, or share the photo as JPG, then convert it here.
Are my pictures uploaded? No. Everything happens in your browser, so the pictures never leave your device.
Does it change the size in pixels? No, only the format and the file size. To change the width and height, use the Image Resizer.
What happens to transparency? PNG and WebP keep it. JPG can’t, so transparent areas turn white.
Is there a size limit? Pictures up to 8,000 pixels on a side. Larger ones can crash a phone’s browser, so they are skipped.
