How to use it

Choose a picture, then pick a grid: a preset like 3 × 3 Instagram grid, or any number of rows and columns from 1 to 10. The dashed lines show where the cuts go. Square tiles crops the middle of the picture so every tile is a square, 3:4 tiles makes them a little taller than wide, and Whole picture keeps everything and cuts it into equal parts of its own shape. Press Download all as a ZIP to save every tile at full size, or tap one tile to save just that one.

Posting order

A profile grid shows your newest post at the top left. So to make the tiles join up into one big picture, you post the bottom right tile first and the top left tile last. The numbers on the grid show that order: post tile 1 first, then 2, and so on. With Posting order names, the files are called name-post-01, name-post-02 and so on, so you can upload them in the order they sort. Row and column names (name-r01-c02) are handy for printing, puzzles or anything that isn’t a profile grid.

Tips

Post the whole set in one go: anything you post later pushes every tile along by one and breaks the picture. A grid of 3 columns matches most profile grids; the number of rows is up to you. Instagram’s profile grid now shows posts as 3:4 thumbnails, which trims the sides of square posts, so if your grid looks cut there, try 3:4 tiles. Start with a big, sharp picture: each tile is only a part of it. Choose JPG for photos and PNG for drawings, text or screenshots.

Questions

Is my picture uploaded? No. It is opened and cut inside your browser, and the tiles are made on your device. Why can’t I open my iPhone photo? Browsers can’t open HEIC files; share or export the photo as JPG first, or use the Image Converter. Are the tiles the same size? With square or 3:4 tiles, yes, to the pixel. With the whole picture, tiles can differ by one pixel when the size doesn’t divide evenly; no pixels are lost or repeated. How do I open the ZIP on a phone? Phones open ZIP files in their Files app; on a phone you can also tap the tiles one at a time. This page isn’t made by or connected to Instagram.
