Backup

JSON is the full backup. CSV columns: date, amount, category, note. Entries with a bad date or amount are skipped. Adding a file never duplicates an identical entry. Your data lives in this browser only: clearing site data or switching device loses it, so export a file to keep a copy.

More info

How to use it

Type an amount, choose a category and a date, add a note if you like and press Add expense. The totals for the month at the top update at once, with a bar for each category so you can see where the money goes. Switch months with the dropdown. Made a mistake? The ✕ button deletes an entry, and Undo brings it back straight after.

Amounts can be typed as 12.5, 1,234.56 or 12,50. The currency sign is only a label; no conversion is done.

Privacy and backups

Your entries are stored only in this browser, on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. That also means they are lost if you clear your browser data, so use Export CSV or Export JSON now and then. The CSV opens in any spreadsheet. Import reads a file made by this tool, and asks whether to replace what you have or add to it (identical entries are not added twice).

Questions

Is it a budgeting app? No, it is a log with totals. It doesn’t connect to your bank or give financial advice. How many entries can it hold? Up to 5,000. Can I use it on my phone and computer? Each device keeps its own list; move data between them with an export and an import. To split a shared bill, see the Tip & Bill Splitter.
