How to split the bill

Type the bill, choose a tip with one of the buttons or type your own, and set how many people are sharing. The big number is what each person pays. Tip is worked out on the bill you typed, so if your receipt already shows tax, enter the amount you want the tip based on.

Cents don’t always divide evenly. When they don’t, the first few people pay one cent more so the shares add up to the exact total, and the page tells you so. Turn on round each share up if you would rather everyone put in a whole amount: the extra becomes a slightly bigger tip, and the page shows how much.

Questions

What tip should I leave? It depends on the country and the service. Customs differ a lot, from none at all to 20 percent or more, so use the amount that is normal where you are.

Can people pay different amounts? This page splits evenly. For uneven bills, split by item and add each person’s tip with the Percentage Calculator.

Is anything stored? Only your tip choice, number of people and currency sign, so they are ready next time. The bill itself is never saved.
