How the reaction test works
Pick one of five short tests. Each one measures a different thing: how fast you react, how well you time a press, or how well you can ignore a distraction. Your best score for each test is saved on this device.
- Flash Reflex is the classic reaction time test. Wait for the screen to turn green, then press as fast as you can. The wait is random, about 2 to 5 seconds. Press early and it’s a fault. Your last result and the average of your last five are shown.
- Linear Lock: press when the moving line is inside the green zone. Each hit makes it faster and moves the zone. A miss resets your streak and the speed.
- Radial Sync: the same idea on a circle. Press as the dot passes through the green arc.
- Color Protocol: words flash up in colored ink. Press only when the ink color matches the word. About one in three is a match. The pace picks up as your streak grows.
- Quantum Tick: start the clock, then press again at exactly 4.000 seconds. The timer hides after 2 seconds, so you have to feel the rest. Within 0.1 s counts as Perfect.
What a good reaction time is
Flash Reflex puts a label on each result: under 180 ms is Lightning, under 230 Sharp, under 290 Solid, under 380 Average, and anything slower is Sleepy duck. A result under 90 ms is too fast to be a real reaction, so it counts as a fault.
Tips
- Rest a finger on the key or the screen before the wait ends, and don’t move until the color changes.
- Take five or six tries and look at the average, not the single best. One lucky press tells you little.
- Use the same device each time if you want to compare scores. Screens and input methods add a small delay of their own.
- For Quantum Tick, count a steady beat in your head instead of watching for a number.
Questions
Is it free? Yes. No account, no download, nothing to pay for.
Why is my time different from other reaction tests? Every device has some delay between your press and what the page sees. A phone, a laptop and a game controller will give slightly different numbers.
Can I play with a keyboard? Yes. Press Space or Enter to react, and 1 to 5 in the menu to open a test. Esc goes back. A game controller works too.
Does it show averages by age? No. The test only compares you with your own earlier scores and the labels above.
