How to play

Yacht is a classic dice game played over thirteen rounds. On your turn you roll five dice. You can roll again up to two more times, and before each roll you tap the dice you want to keep. After your last roll (or sooner, if you like what you see), choose one empty box on your score card and score the dice there. Every box is used exactly once, so sometimes you have to score a zero in a box you were saving.

The top six boxes, Ones to Sixes, score the total of the dice showing that number. If they add up to 63 or more (three of each number is exactly 63), you get a 35-point bonus. The bottom boxes score: Three of a kind and Four of a kind the total of all five dice, Full house (three of one number and two of another) 25, Small straight (four in a row) 30, Large straight (five in a row) 40, Yacht (all five the same) 50, and Chance the total of anything.

Roll a second Yacht after scoring 50 in the Yacht box and you earn a 100-point bonus, and the roll counts as a full house or straight if you put it there. The highest total after thirteen rounds wins.

Tips

Aim for the upper bonus early: three or more of a number in its box keeps you on track. Keep pairs and triples of high numbers. Chance is your safety net for a bad turn, and the Yacht box is worth keeping open as long as you can. A good game scores around 200 to 250; the computer players aim for the same.

Playing together

Play alone to chase your best score, or seat up to six people and computer players. Nothing is secret, so friends on one device just take turns. For friends somewhere else, use Play online (when it’s available) and everyone rolls on their own phone.
