Everyone guesses the same five-letter word at once, six tries each. You see the colours of their rows but not their letters. Fewer tries score more, and solving first or second adds a bonus.

How to play

  • Everyone gets the same hidden five-letter word. Type a guess and press Enter: green letters are in the right place, yellow ones are in the word somewhere else, and grey ones aren’t in it.
  • You have six tries. You can see the colours of everyone else’s rows as they go, but never their letters until the word is out.
  • The word ends when everyone has solved it or run out of tries, or when time is up.

Scoring

  • Solve it in one try for 6 points, two for 5, and so on down to 1 point on the sixth try.
  • The first player to solve it gets 2 more points and the second gets 1 more.
  • Highest total after all the words wins.

Tips

Speed only counts for the bonus, so a careful solve in three beats a rushed one in five. If someone else turns all green early, don’t panic: second place still earns a point, and fewer tries are worth more than the bonus.
