How to make a bracket

  1. Type the players or teams, one per line. The order is the seeding: put the strongest first, or tick Shuffle for a random draw.
  2. Pick a format and press Make the bracket.
  3. After each match, tap the winner’s name. They move on by themselves. Tap again to undo; later results that depended on it are cleared.

Which format should I use?

Single elimination is the quickest: lose once and you’re out. 16 players need 15 matches.

Double elimination gives everyone a second chance. Losers drop into a losers’ bracket; its winner meets the winners’ bracket champion in the grand final. If the losers’ side wins that, a reset final decides it, since both now have one loss.

Round robin has everyone play everyone, with 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. It’s the fairest, but the number of matches grows fast: 8 players means 28 matches.

Questions

What if I don’t have 4, 8 or 16 players? The top seeds get a bye (a free pass) through the first round, so the bracket still works out.

Is my bracket saved? Yes, in this browser. Use Print to keep a copy on paper or as a PDF.

Need teams first? The Team Generator splits a list of names into random teams.
