How to use it
Slide one or more sounds up, press Play, and adjust the mix while it plays. Each sound has its own volume, and the master volume sets the overall level. Pick a time under Stop after for a sleep timer: the sound fades out and stops by itself. Your mix is remembered next time.
Which sound for what
White noise is bright and even, and masks voices and traffic. Pink noise has less treble and sounds like steady rainfall. Brown noise is deeper still, a low rumble many people find calming for reading and concentration. Rain, waves, wind, campfire and fan hum are shaped from the same noise with filters, so they never repeat a recording.
Try brown noise at a low level for studying, pink noise with rain for sleep, or a fan hum with a little white noise to cover an open office. Pair it with the Pomodoro Timer for focused blocks.
Questions
Does it download audio files? No. The sounds are generated live in your browser, so nothing is streamed, and there are no licences to worry about.
Why doesn’t it start by itself? Browsers only allow sound after you press a button. If you hear nothing, check the sliders are above zero and your device volume is up.
Will it keep playing with the screen off? That depends on your phone and browser. Some pause audio when the page goes to the background; keep the tab open and the screen on for the most reliable result.
Is it safe for sleeping babies or pets? Keep the volume low and the speaker at a distance. Steady noise that is too loud can be harmful, so if you can’t hold a normal conversation over it, turn it down.
