How to play Solitaire (Klondike)
The goal is to move all 52 cards up to the four foundations at the top right, one pile per suit, from the ace up to the king. Cards start in seven columns; only the top card of each column is face up.
In the columns, build down in alternating colors: a red 6 can go on a black 7, then a black 5 on the red 6, and so on. You can move a whole run of face-up cards together. When you move the last face-up card off a column, the card underneath turns over. Only a king (or a run starting with a king) can go into an empty column.
Tap the stock at the top left to turn over cards. With Draw 1 you turn one card at a time; with Draw 3 you turn three and can only play the top one, which makes the game harder. When the stock runs out, tap the empty spot to turn the waste back over. You can go through it as often as you like.
Controls
Tap or click a card and it moves to the best place it can go: a foundation first, then a column. You can also drag cards where you want them. Undo takes back moves one at a time, Hint lights up a move you could make and Restart deals the same cards again. When every card is face up and the stock is empty, Finish lifts the rest of the cards to the foundations for you. On a keyboard, Z undoes, D draws and H shows a hint.
Winnable deals and the daily deal
Not every Klondike deal can be won. With Winnable deals on, each new deal is checked by a solver first, so you know a win is possible. The Daily deal is the same for everyone on a given date, uses Draw 1 and is always checked to be winnable. Win it on consecutive days to build a streak, and share your time and moves when you finish.
Tips
Turn over the face-down cards first: play from the column with the most hidden cards when you have a choice. Don’t rush cards up to the foundations if you may still need them to hold a card of the other color. Keep an empty column for a king that frees a long column, and think before you fill it with the first king you see.
