Shape Lines

Make lines that share a colour or a shape

How many computer players?

Build lines of tiles that all share one colour or one shape. Every line you make or extend scores its length, and a full line of six scores 12.

How to play

There are 108 tiles: six shapes (circle, square, diamond, star, clover and cross) in six colours, three of each. Everyone holds six tiles.

On your turn, either place tiles or swap them. To place, put one or more tiles in a single row or column, touching the tiles already on the table, with no gaps. Then draw back up to six.

Every line of tiles on the table must share one thing: either all the same colour, each a different shape, or all the same shape, each a different colour. The same tile can never appear twice in a line, so a line holds six tiles at most.

Instead of placing, you can swap any number of tiles with the bag. That uses your turn.

Scoring

You score one point for every tile in each line you make or add to, counting the tiles that were already there. A tile that joins two lines scores both. Finish a line of six and it scores 12 instead of 6.

When the bag is empty, the first player to place their last tile gets 6 more points and the game ends. If nobody can move, the game ends too. The highest score wins.

Tips

The big scores come from placing a line of tiles alongside another line, so each tile scores its own cross line too. Be careful about leaving a line with five tiles: the next player may finish it for 12.
