How to play
- The marsh is split into islands, each shared out at random and holding a stack of dice. The number on an island is how many dice it has.
- On your turn, tap one of your islands with two or more dice, then a rival island next to it. Both sides roll all their dice. If your total is higher you take the island and move all but one of your dice onto it. If not (a tie counts as a loss), your island drops to one die.
- Attack as often as you like, then press End turn. You get one new die for each island in your biggest group of joined islands, spread at random over your islands. An island holds 8 dice at most; dice that don’t fit are saved for later turns.
- A player with no islands left is out. Take every island to win. If a game runs past 120 rounds, the player with the most islands wins.
Tips
Your income is your biggest group, so joining two groups can be worth more than any single battle. An attack from an island leaves it on one die, an easy target: think about what your neighbours can reach before you stretch out. Eight dice against three wins almost every time; four against four wins less than half the time.
The odds
- 2 dice against 1: about 84%.
- 3 against 3: about 45%.
- 5 against 4: about 72%.
- 8 against 8: about 47%.
