How to play Dex Word

Every day there’s one Pokémon to find. The number of squares tells you how long its name is. Type any Pokémon name of that length and press Enter.

  • Green: that letter is in the name, in that spot.
  • Yellow: the letter is in the name, but somewhere else.
  • Grey: the letter isn’t in the name (or not that many times).

After two guesses you get the Pokémon’s generation as a clue, and after four its type. You have six guesses.

Tips

  • Start with a name full of common letters, like one with A, E, R and N in it.
  • Lots of names end the same way (-ION, -EON, -ITE, -OSE). Yellow letters near the end are a hint.
  • Once you know the generation, think about which Pokémon came out in those games.

Questions

Which Pokémon can come up? Any whose name is 4 to 9 plain letters, from every generation. Names with spaces, dots or symbols (like Mr. Mime) are left out.

Can I play more than once a day? The daily word is once a day, but Practice round gives you as many random ones as you like. Practice games don’t touch your streak.
