How to play

  • Everyone gets the same six numbers and a target between 101 and 999. The numbers come from the big ones (25, 50, 75 and 100) and two each of 1 to 10.
  • Tap a number, then an operation, then another number. The result becomes a new number you can keep using. Each number can be used once, and you don’t have to use them all.
  • Results must be whole numbers above zero, so you can’t take a bigger number from a smaller one or divide unevenly.
  • Every time you get closer, that becomes your answer. Press Done when you’re happy, or keep going until time runs out. An exact answer is done at once.

Scoring

  • Exactly on the target scores 10, within 5 scores 7, and within 10 scores 5.
  • After each round you see everyone’s working and one way to reach the target (or the closest anyone could get).

Tips

Start with the big numbers: multiply one by a small number to land near the target, then add or take away the difference. If the target ends in 5 or 0, look for a 25 or 50 to multiply. Keep a 1 or 2 spare to fix being one or two off.
