How to play
- Two players share one 16 × 16 minefield with 51 hidden mines. Take turns opening one square.
- Here the mines are what you want. Open a mine and you claim it with your flag and take another turn.
- Open anything else and it shows a number: how many mines touch that square. An empty square opens the area around it. Then it’s the other player’s turn.
- The first player to claim 26 mines wins, since that’s more than half.
- Once a game, if you’re behind, you can use the bomb: it opens a 5 × 5 square at once and claims every mine inside. Then the turn passes.
Tips
If a number has exactly as many closed squares around it as its value, every one of them is a mine, so take them all in one turn. When nothing is certain, remember that a wrong guess opens a number your rival can use. Save the bomb for a crowded patch of closed squares next to big numbers.
