How to play
Everyone gets seven cards in the first round, then one fewer each round: six, five, and so on down to one. In the first round the next card is turned face up and its suit is trumps.
The player after the dealer leads any card. Everyone else must follow suit if they can; if they can’t, they may play any card, including a trump. The highest trump wins the trick, or if no trumps were played, the highest card of the suit that was led. Aces are high. Whoever wins a trick leads the next.
At the end of a round, anyone who took no tricks is knocked out. Whoever took the most tricks looks at their new hand, picks trumps for the next round and leads first. If two or more tie for the most, the one who took a trick most recently picks. The last player left wins; in the one-card round only one player can take the trick, so the game always ends there at the latest.
Tips
One trick is all you need to survive. Once you have it, play your other winners where they help you pick trumps next round, and don’t waste a trump on a trick someone else is already winning. With few cards and no tricks yet, play your best card while it can still win.
