How to play

A word is hidden and shown as blank slots, one for each letter. Guess a letter by tapping it or typing it on your keyboard. If the letter is in the word, it appears in every place where it belongs. If not, a part of the drawing is added, and after six wrong guesses the drawing is finished and you lose. Find every letter first and you win. Choose a category to narrow down the kind of word, or leave it on Any.

For two players, choose A friend picks: one player types a secret word into the hidden box (3 to 20 letters), then the other guesses. Hint reveals one letter but costs you a miss, so use it only when you are stuck. Games against a friend don’t change your win streak. Your wins, losses and best streak are saved in this browser.

Tips

Start with the vowels, especially E and A, and with common consonants such as R, S, T, N and L. Once a few letters are showing, think about common endings (ING, ED, ER, LY) and letter pairs (TH, CH, OO, EE). The category helps too: animal words, for example, often end in common letters like S or Y and rarely have a Q. Wrong letters are listed under the slots so you don’t repeat a guess.

Is my word list online? No. Everything happens in your browser, and a secret word you type for a friend is never sent anywhere.
