How to play

Everyone gets seven cards (five each with four or more players) and the rest are spread out as the pond. On your turn, pick a rank you hold, say sevens, and ask another player for it. If they have any sevens, they must hand them all over, and you ask again. If they don’t, they say go fish: draw a card from the pond. If it’s a seven, you show it and ask again; otherwise your turn is over.

As soon as you have all four cards of a rank, that’s a book, and it’s laid down in front of you. If you run out of cards, you draw one from the pond when your turn comes round. The game ends when all thirteen books are down, and the player with the most books wins.

Playing together

Seat up to six players in any mix of people and computer players. With more than one person on one device, each hand stays hidden until its owner taps their name, so you can pass the phone or tablet round. To play friends who aren’t in the same room, use Play online (when it’s available): everyone opens the invite link on their own phone and holds their own hand.

Tips

Listen to what everyone asks for. If someone asks for queens and doesn’t get any, they still hold at least one queen, so ask them for queens when you have one. The computer players remember this too. Asking for a rank you hold several of gets you closer to a book when it works.
