How to play
There are five colors of expedition: Sand, Reef, Kelp, Coral and Ice. Each color has three bet cards and cards 2 to 10. You hold eight cards.
On your turn, first do one of these:
- Play a card on your own expedition of its color. It must be higher than the last card there. Bets go first, before any number.
- Throw a card face up on its color’s pile in the middle.
Then draw one card: from the deck, or the top card of any pile (but not the card you just threw). The round ends as soon as the deck runs out.
Scoring
Expeditions you never started score nothing. Each one you did start scores the total of its numbers minus 20, then multiplied: ×2 with one bet, ×3 with two, ×4 with three. That works for losses too. An expedition of eight cards or more gets 20 more on top. Three rounds; the higher total wins.
Tips
Don’t start too many expeditions: each costs 20 before it earns anything. Play low cards early and keep gaps small. Watch the piles: throwing away a card your rival needs hands it to them. Taking from a pile instead of the deck makes the round last longer.
