How to play
- Players take turns giving the clue. The clue giver picks one of three secret phrases: a food, an animal, a job, a place, a saying and so on.
- The clue giver describes it using only emoji, tapped from the emoji keyboard or typed from their own. Letters and numbers aren’t allowed, but number emoji like 9️⃣ are.
- Everyone else types guesses. Wrong guesses show for everyone, which can help the others. Spelling doesn’t have to be perfect: one slip in a longer word still counts.
- The clue giver can add more emoji at any time. Everyone sees the blanks from the start, the category part-way through, and the first letters near the end.
Scoring
- The first player to get it scores 3, the second 2, and everyone after that 1.
- The clue giver scores 1 for each player who gets it, up to 3.
- Highest total after everyone has given their clues wins.
Tips
Split long words into parts that sound alike: a star and a fish make starfish, a pine tree and an apple make pineapple. For sayings, picture the words rather than the meaning, like a pig and a plane for “when pigs fly”. If nobody is close, watch the wrong guesses and add an emoji that steers them.
