How to play Duck Run
The duck runs on its own and keeps getting faster. Get past everything in its way. One hit and the run is over.
- Jump: Space, the up arrow or W, a tap on the game, or the Jump button on a phone. Hold it for a higher jump; a quick tap is a short hop.
- Duck: the down arrow or S, or hold the Duck button. In the air, it pulls the duck back down faster.
- Pause: P or Esc. The game also pauses when you switch tabs.
- Controller: A or up on the d-pad jumps, down ducks.
What’s in the way: reeds (short and tall, in clumps of up to three), rocks, and from 400 points, geese. Low geese have to be jumped, middle ones ducked under, and high ones fly over you if you stay on the ground.
Scoring: one point for every few steps. The score blinks at every hundred, and day turns to night (and back) every 700.
Tips
- Use short hops for single short reeds and rocks. You land sooner, ready for the next one.
- Hold the jump for tall clumps of reeds, and jump a little earlier as the speed goes up.
- If you jumped too early, press down to drop out of the air.
- When a goose is coming, look at its height before you do anything. Jumping into a high one is the most common way to lose a good run.
Questions
Is it free? Yes. No account, no download, nothing to pay for.
Does it save my best score? Yes, in this browser. Clearing site data resets it.
Can I play on a phone? Yes. Tap the game or use the Jump and Duck buttons under it. It also works with the phone turned sideways.
Is every run the same? No. The course is new every run, but it is always possible: every gap leaves time to land and jump again.
