How to play

Every duck starts on the edge of a 6 × 6 pond, facing in. Every tile has four streams that join the eight points round its edges, two on each side. You hold three tiles.

Your turn. Pick a tile, turn it any way you like, and lay it on the empty square your duck is facing. Your duck follows the stream it lands in, across any tiles already there, until it faces an empty square again. Then draw a tile.

Out. A duck that drifts off the edge of the pond is out, and so is a duck that meets another duck: both are out. Your tile moves every duck facing that square, so you can push other ducks off the edge. You can’t lay a tile that sinks your own duck unless every tile you hold, turned every way, would.

Winning. The last duck afloat wins. If the last ducks sink together, or the tiles run out with several still floating, they share the win.

Tips

Stay near the middle of the pond: the edge is where ducks sink. Look at which squares other ducks are facing, because a tile there moves them too. Keep a tile with a few gentle turns in your hand for when you get boxed in.
