How to play

Players take turns as the artist. The artist picks one of three secret words and draws it before the time runs out, while everyone else tries to guess what it is. No letters, numbers or acting it out: just the drawing.

Online, everyone guesses by typing on their own phone. Wrong guesses show up for everyone (with a nudge when one is a letter away), but a right guess never does, so nobody can copy it. As the clock runs down, a letter or two of the word appears to help. On one device, the artist holds it, everyone else shouts their guesses, and the artist taps the name of whoever gets it.

Scoring

A right guess scores up to 100 points, more the faster it comes, and never less than 20. The artist scores 20 for every player who gets it, so a clear drawing pays off. Everyone draws once per round; play one, two or three rounds.

Tips

Start with the overall shape, then add the one detail that gives it away: a pumpkin is a circle until you add the stalk. Use colors when they help (a red apple, a green frog). If people are close, draw the thing in action or in its usual place. When guessing, try related words too: the artist sees what you type and can steer the drawing.
