How to play

Dominoes uses a double-six set: 28 tiles, each with two ends showing 0 to 6 spots. With two players everyone takes 7 tiles; with three or four, 5 each. The rest stay face down as the boneyard.

The first player leads any tile. After that, on your turn, play one tile whose end matches one of the two open ends of the line, so a 3-5 can go next to an open 3 or an open 5. If a tile fits both ends, you choose which. If nothing in your hand fits, you draw from the boneyard until something does. If the boneyard is empty and you still can’t play, you pass.

The round ends when someone plays their last tile. They score every spot left in the other players’ hands. If nobody can move, the round is blocked: whoever holds the fewest spots wins and scores the rest (a tie for fewest scores nothing). Each round a different player leads. The first to reach the target, 50 or 100 points, wins the game.

Playing with friends

Pick any mix of people and computer players, from two to four seats. On one device, the game asks you to pass it on before each person’s turn so nobody sees anyone else’s tiles. With Play online (when it’s available), everyone holds their own tiles on their own phone while you talk on a call, and computer players can fill the empty seats.

Tips

Get rid of heavy tiles, like 6-6 and 5-6, early: if someone else goes out, they count against you. Keep a spread of numbers in your hand so you can follow whatever end appears, and play doubles while their number is still open, because they only ever fit one number. Watch what other players draw for: if someone had to draw on a 4, they probably hold no 4s, so leaving 4s open makes them draw again.
