How to play
Each question has a number for an answer: a year, a height, a count of something. Everyone writes a guess in secret. Nobody sees the guesses until all of them are in.
Then the guesses are laid out from lowest to highest, with an extra slot for “all too high”. Everyone bets on the one they think is closest without going over the real answer. You can bet on your own guess or anyone else’s.
The winning guess is the highest one that isn’t above the answer. Whoever wrote it scores 3 points, plus 2 more if it was exactly right. Everyone who bet on it scores what that slot pays: 2 for the guesses in the middle, up to 4 toward the edges, and 5 for “all too high”. After the last question, the most points wins.
Tips
You don’t need to know the answer, only who’s closest. If you think a year is around 1900, the guess just below 1900 is usually a better bet than the one just above it, since going over never wins. The outer slots pay more, so a confident hunch near the edge is worth backing.
