How to play

Every player is a duck raiding a picnic. The basket holds 13 dice: 6 green, 4 yellow and 3 red. On your turn, take dice from the basket until you hold three, and roll them:

  • 🍞 Bread: yours for this turn. Set the die aside.
  • 🐾 Footprints: you waddled off empty-beaked. Keep the die; it’s one of your three on the next roll.
  • 🧹 Broom: a picnicker shooed you. Set it aside.

After each roll, roll again or bank the bread you’ve found. If you collect 3 brooms in one turn, the turn ends and you lose all the bread from it. If the basket runs low, the bread dice go back in (you keep the bread).

The dice

  • Green: 3 bread, 2 footprints, 1 broom.
  • Yellow: 2 of each.
  • Red: 1 bread, 2 footprints, 3 brooms.

Winning

When anyone has 13 bread or more at the end of a round, the game ends and the most bread wins. Everyone gets the same number of turns. If the lead is tied, only the tied players play another round, until one of them is ahead.

Tips

Count the brooms. With none or one, rolling again is usually worth it. With two, look at the colours you’d roll: three green dice bust about two times in five, but red dice are a real gamble. If you’re last in the round and someone has already reached 13, keep rolling until you’re ahead: there’s no point banking a loss.
