How to play
You have two bean fields and a hand of five cards. You can never rearrange your hand: you always plant from the front, and new cards go to the back. A field holds one kind of bean at a time. Harvest a field to sell its beans for coins: the more beans of one kind, the more coins (each field shows how many beans make 1, 2, 3 and 4 coins). A field with a single bean can’t be harvested while another of your fields holds more. A third field costs 3 coins.
On your turn: plant the front card of your hand, and the next one too if you like. Then two cards are turned up and you trade: offer the turned-up cards or cards from your hand to anyone, ask for kinds you want, and take their offers. Gifts are fine. Everyone else can only trade with you. Cards anyone gets in a trade, and turned-up cards you keep, must be planted straight away, harvesting a field first if there’s no room. Then you draw three cards to the back of your hand.
When the deck runs out (in a long game, the second time), the game ends. Everyone harvests their fields, and the most coins wins.
Tips
Watch the front of your hand: a bean that fits neither field will force you to harvest early for little or nothing, so trade it away or give it to someone who grows that kind. Rare beans (Ruby, Speckled) pay out quickly; common ones (Mud, Butter) need long rows.
